we’ve just arrived back from a one week tour that lead us through south and central India.
For me as a musician and a human being who’s deeply connected to indian culture and music, it was an incredibly inspring experience to play my music to an indian audience.
We started out on February 28th in Chennai with a very well received concert at the Goethe Institute auditorium with featured guest and old friend Vijay Natesan on Mridangam. Next was a day at the studio in Pune where we recorded parts of the upcoming new album of my group, together with harmonium player Santosh Ghante. On March 2nd we performed at the Shisha Cafe in Pune which is one of my favourite jazz venues in India. March 3rd saw us play at Sinhgad Institute Amphitheatre in Lonavala together with a group of Hindustani Classical musicians including Santosh Ghante on harmonium, Pandit Sanjay Garud on vocals and Manoj Kadam on tabla. The auditorium was packed with an 800 plus audience who made this concerte a really memorable experience for us.
On March 4th, we flew to Hyderabad for our final performance of that tour. That night, we played in a stunningly beautiful setting in the garden of Hyderabad Sailing Annexe together with Carnatic vocalist Varijashree Venugopal.
This tour was a dream coming true for me, and at the same time it was so well received by audiences that we hope to be back in India as soon as we can, possibly even this year.
Love and Namaste,
